The “Photography” page is now up and running! More photos and categories will be added continuously so be sure to take a look every few months or so.

I also wanted to take this time to inform everyone that my Mom is having surgery on August 2nd and from that date until the 8th or so there won’t be many updates. I’ll be staying at Karyssa’s house for half of the time then going over to my Dad’s but I’ll try to post as much as possible. I believe my Grandma will be coming over as well so maybe I could steal a few recipes from her. (:

DIY – Homemade Microwave Popcorn

I spent the night at my friend Kayla’s house and she introduced me to the world of popping your own microwave popcorn; no Orville Redenbacher included. The time we attempted it though we ended up burning the bag. I was looking on her sister Chelsea’s website and noticed that she had posted the actual instructions on how to make it. I gave it a whirl and..ended up burning it again. But! I tried it again for a second time and smudged the amount of ingredients a bit and it turned out perfect. So, here you go. How to make your own microwave poppycorn.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
1 small bowl
A bit over 1 tsp. butter (I went ahead and used the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! Light because that was all we had at the time but you can use whatever you’d like.)
1 brown paper bag

Directions:

1. Place the popcorn kernels in a small bowl and set aside until further use.

2. Place the butter into a separate dish and microwave for about 10 seconds, allowing it to melt.

3. Pour the melted butter into the same dish with the popcorn kernels, evenly mixing the two together.

4. Put the buttered popcorn kernels into the brown paper bag and fold the top over. Afterwards place the bag into the microwave, press the popcorn button, and wait until there are only a few seconds in between each pop. I took mine out 20 seconds early just to be sure there wasn’t any burning. Afterwards simply add the desired amount of salt and enjoy your popcorn.

I should start off by introducing myself, hm? My name is Alyssa Mae, formerly known as Lissa from http://lissasartgallery.wordpress.com . I’ve decided to start a new blog, a new beginning, because my last one had turned into a lost cause. It was originally created to be sort of an online journal type of thing, but now I’ve got my Tumblr and no longer remembered to post on WordPress. So, today I was thinking about it and how much I did miss the blogging community and decided to start a new one. This one having a completely different purpose.

Singingsatellites is a DIY blog full of recipes, helpful tips, playlists, and step-by-step instructions on how to do an assortment of things. I hope you can take something away from this rather it be saving a few extra dollars or finding your new life motto. Please enjoy, yeah? ♥
